Quick reminder that the yearly rise in the minimum wage happens next week. From Monday 1 October  the hourly rates are:

Aged 22 and over: £5.52

Aged 18-21: £4.60

Aged 16 and 17: £3.40

The relevant government department – the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform – runs the National Minimum Wage Helpline. Call 0845 6000 678.

This, it says, is also the number to ring if you think you are being underpaid and wish to make a complaint. “All complaints about underpayment of the National Minimum Wage are treated in the strictest confidence and callers may remain anonymous if they wish to do so”, says the BERR website.
